Everything You Need to Know About Amazon’s Huge October Sale

amazon october sale
Serious Eats / Chloe Jeong

On the heels of Prime Day this past summer, Amazon announced that it’s hosting another two-day sale, featuring some of the biggest discounts of the year, on October 11th and 12th. The Amazon Prime Early Access Sale will include excellent kitchen sales, some great home deals, and even some outdoorsy discounts (fingers crossed for a Solo Stove!).

While we don’t know what will be on sale yet, we rounded up some of the best early deals available now. We also have answers to your questions below (like what the Prime Early Access Sale is and how to shop it!).

Yoskuta Carbon Steel Wok Pan

Normally $70, Now $60

One of our favorite woks is a cool 14% off right now. It’s flat-bottomed, so it’s compatible with all stovetops. It’s pre-seasoned, which makes it easier to get going with. And we found it heat responsive—essential for wok cooking.

OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

Normally $100, Now $80

This is the lowest price we’ve seen for this very good burr grinder from OXO. In fact, it’s so great, we named it the best burr grinder for most people. It’s easy to adjust its grind settings, it has a simple single-button push start/stop, and it’s very consistent given its very reasonable price point. As we said in our review, “This is about as inexpensive as a burr grinder gets before the grind quality really starts to fall off, making it a good starter grinder for most home-brewed coffee drinkers.”

Anova Precision Cooker

Normally $220, Now $160

Our favorite immersion circulator with onboard display is nearly 30% off at the moment. It’s accurate (essential for sous vide success) and can be controlled via its physical screen or the Anova app. It also has an adjustable clamp, so it can fit a variety of cookware (a Dutch oven, Cambro, stockpot, etc).

Chef’n FreshForce Citrus Juicer

Normally $25, Now $20

Our favorite handheld juicer for lemons and limes is as good as it gets: It easily extracts juice with minimal effort, it directs juices downwards (keeping splashes off of your countertop), and it has a slip-free handle.

Lodge 10.25-Inch Cast Iron Skillet

Normally $30, Now $21

You really can’t beat this 30% off sale on our favorite cast iron skillet. We truly don’t think it’s worth splurging on a high-end cast iron skillet when this now-$21 Lodge has it all: It’s durable, it’s easy to season, and it has great heat retention.

Mueller Austria Vacuum Sealer Machine

Normally $80, Now $60

Our favorite affordable vacuum sealer is currently 25% off, which is a steal for those into sous vide or food preservation. It’s lightweight, it works (better, we found, than some vacuum sealers triple its price), and it’s easy to store. It does have a longer, 40-second refractory period (the time it has to rest in between seals), but that’s really not too bad considering its price point.

Mastering the Art of French Cooking

Normally $45, Now $22

You can’t beat the price on this classic. In fact, it’s one of the essential cookbooks we think every cook should own.

All-Clad Stainless Steel Immersion Blender

Normally $170, Now $100

The most powerful immersion blender award goes to this model from All-Clad. In our tests, it emulsified mayo, crushed ice, and puréed with amazing ease. It’s an all-around winner.

Barfly Muddler

Normally $25, Now $21

Do you like mojitos? How about a blackberry gin and tonic? Well, then you need a good muddler. Our top pick is $4 off right now—we love its durable, composite material, its comfortable, tapered grip, and its slightly convex, beveled head that muddles just perfectly.

Lodge Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Reversible Stovetop Griddle

Normally $75, Now $50

Our favorite stovetop griddle is a whopping $25 off at the moment. It works for pancakes, bacon, eggs, panini…oh, the possibilities. If searing burgers is high on your priority list, we found that electric griddles don’t get hot enough to do the trick, but that this cast iron griddle does.

Messermeister Avanta 4-Piece Steak Knife Set

Normally $70, Now $50

After testing 14 sets of steak knives, we named this one our top pick. These knives are affordable, super-sharp, and incredibly well-constructed. Plus, they come in a set of four—some sets of two can cost five times the price (or more).

Yummy Kitchenware 9-Inch Fine Mesh Strainer

Normally $20, Now $16

Our favorite budget-friendly fine mesh strainer is even cheaper right now. It’s also pretty great: it has a wide basket and extra-large bowl hook. Its mesh is fairly fine, too (not as fine as our winner, but that one’s $56).

Owala Free Sip Vacuum Water Bottle

Normally $25, Now $21

If you’re in need of an insulated water bottle, we suggest checking out this model from Owala (which was our favorite after testing seven stainless steel models). It offers excellent cold retention, but its spout style is what makes it truly unique; it has a chug cap and a built-in straw at the front.

J.K. Adams Maple French Rolling Pin

Normally $19, Now $18

Rolling pins are a pretty personal thing: The best one is the one you like using. However, we do really like a French rolling pin, like this on-sale model from J.K. Adams. Its long, lightweight, tapered shape feels very easy to control.

FAQs

When is the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale?

Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale will be happening October 11th and 12th this year.

What is the Amazon Prime Early Access Sale in October?

This two-day event is one of the biggest sales of the year, with discounts on kitchen, home, outdoor products, electronics, and more. It will include markdowns that are available for the entirety of the two-day sale and lightning deals that are offered for a limited amount of time and sell out quickly. You can read more details via Amazon’s press release.

What other brands offer these deals?

Like with Prime Day, other major retailers—including Target, Nordstrom, Walmart, and Bed, Bath & Beyond—will likely offer their own sales during this time. Smaller, direct-to-consumer brands (like ThermoWorks) often mark down their offerings at this time, too.
