This week, Danièle speaks with James Flexner about how, why, and just how far Oceanic peoples explored in the Middle Ages, as well as the ways in which we can learn about the rich history of this region.
James Flexner is a Senior Lecturer in Historical Archaeology and Heritage in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Sydney, where he focuses on landscape and historical archaeology. He is the co-editor of two books, including Community-Led Research: Walking New Pathways Together, and he’s the author of An Archaeology of Early Christianity in Vanuatu: Kastom and Religious Change on Tanna and Erromango, 1839-1920.
